Description: The LAKE CAYUGA was built in 1918 by Toledo Ship Building Co. at Toledo, OH U.S. The Lake Cayuga is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 252 feet, and a width of 43 feet. It displaces 2010 tons, and has a load capacity of 1227 tons. It entered service in the year 1918 under the ownership of U.S. Shipping Board of Boston, MA U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Stranded September 17, 1938, near Punta Arenas, CA. Refloated and sank October 20, 1938, while under tow for San Francisco. The photograph shows the Lake Cayuga at Boston, MA. More information about this vessel is available at the HCGL Website
