The BENJAMIN F. FAIRLESS was built in 1942 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The Benjamin F. Fairless is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 622 feet, and a width of 67 feet. It displaces 10294 tons, and has a load capacity of 6439 tons. It entered service in the year 1942 under the ownership of Pittsburgh Steamship Co. of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Towed out of Duluth, MN, on June 17, 1988, bound for ship breakers at Kaohsuing, China.
