The WILBERT L. SMITH was built in 1903 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The Wilbert L. Smith is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 380 feet, and a width of 50 feet. It displaces 4319 tons, and has a load capacity of 3039 tons. It entered service in the year 1903 under the ownership of U.S. Transportation Co. of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Scrapped by Steel Co. of Canada, Ltd., Hamilton, Ont, in 1947. After lying at Erie, PA, 1945-1946, passed down, Port Colborne, December 6, 1946, in tow of tugs HELENA and TOWMASTER, bound for Hamilton, Ontario. The photograph shows the Wilbert L.
