The CAYUGA was built in 1889 by Globe Iron Works at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Cayuga is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 290 feet, and a width of 40 feet. It displaces 2669 tons, and has a load capacity of 1939 tons. It entered service in the year 1889 under the ownership of Lehigh Valley Transit Co. of Buffalo, NY U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Sunk in collision with steamer JOSEPH L. HURD, May 10, 1895, near Skillagalee Light, Lake Michigan; one life lost on HURD. The photograph shows the Cayuga at Cleveland, OH.
