Description: The THOMAS GAWN was built in 1872 by John F. Squires at Black River (Lorain), OH U.S. The Thomas Gawn is a wood hulled schooner with 3 masts, a length of 170 feet, and a width of 31 feet. It displaces 549 tons, and has a load capacity of 522 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Final enrollment surrendered at Detroit, MI, May 20, 1926, as removed from Rouge River as a total wreck.
