Description: The WILLIAM E. REIS was built in 1900 by Globe Iron Works at Cleveland, OH U.S. The William E. Reis is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 416 feet, and a width of 50 feet. It displaces 4748 tons, and has a load capacity of 3154 tons. It entered service in the year 1900 under the ownership of Cleveland Steamship Co. (John Mitchell, Mgr.) of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Sold in spring, 1967, to Marine Salvage, Ltd., Port Colborne, Ontario. Arrived in tandem tow with AUGUSTUS B. WOLVIN, at Santander, Spain, September 24, 1967, for scrapping. The photograph shows the William E. Reis under way on the Great Lakes.
