Description: The WALTER SCRANTON was built in 1901 by American Ship Building Co. at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Walter Scranton is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 416 feet, and a width of 50 feet. It displaces 4803 tons, and has a load capacity of 3294 tons. It entered service in the year 1901 under the ownership of Cleveland Steamship Co. (John Mitchell, Mgr.) of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Scrapped by Steel Co. of Canada, Ltd., at Hamilton, Ontario, in 1947. After lying at Erie, PA, 1945-1946, passed down, Port Colborne, July 8, 1946, in tow of tugs HELENA and A.M. MCAULEY, bound for Hamilton, Ontario.
