Description: The MINNETONKA was built in 1901 by American Ship Building Co. at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Minnetonka is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 430 feet, and a width of 43 feet. It displaces 5270 tons, and has a load capacity of 3860 tons. It entered service in the year 1901 under the ownership of American Navigation Co. of New York, NY U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Torpedoed by German submarine U-19 on February 25, 1918, in position 55.14N x 6.19W, about one mile from Loch Swilly; no casualties.
