The W.P. THEW was built in 1884 by Henry D. Root at Lorain, OH (hull built at Vermilion, OH) U.S. The W.P. Thew is a wood hulled propeller driven vessel with masts, a length of 107 feet, and a width of 23 feet. It displaces 139 tons, and has a load capacity of 106 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Sunk in collision with propeller WILLIAM LIVINGSTONE, June 22, 1909, about three miles off Thunder Bay Island, MI, Lake Huron; no lives lost.
