Description: The LABELLE was built in 1909 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The Labelle is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 504 feet, and a width of 54 feet. It displaces 6407 tons, and has a load capacity of 4876 tons. It entered service in the year 1909 under the ownership of LaBelle Steamship Co. (M.A. Hanna Co., Mgrs.) of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Sold through Luria Brothers, for scrapping in Italy. Towed to Toronto, Ont., in September, 1962, to load scrap iron for towing across Atlantic Ocean to Italy. The photograph shows the Labelle under way on the Great Lakes.
