Description: The A. WEHRLE JR. was built in 1889 by John E. Monk at Sandusky, OH U.S. The A. Wehrle Jr. is a wood hulled steamer with a length of 148 feet, and a width of 26 feet. It displaces 421 tons, and has a load capacity of 291 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Dropped from documentation in 1928 as abandoned. Tied up in Chicago River at Clark Street, served as taxi dance hall, home for Cook County Democracy, and restaurant. Sank at moorings on October 10, 1930. The photograph shows the A.
