The SAXON was built in 1890 by Globe Iron Works at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Saxon is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 296 feet, and a width of 40 feet. It displaces 2348 tons, and has a load capacity of 1875 tons. It entered service in the year 1890 under the ownership of Menominee Transit Co. (M.A. Hanna Co., Mgrs.) of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Scrapped in 1927. The photograph shows the Saxon at Sault Ste. Marie, MI.
