Description: The AM-115 (SKILL) was built in 1942 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The Am-115 (Skill) is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 221 feet, and a width of 32 feet. It entered service in the year 1942 under the ownership of United States Navy of Washington, DC U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: While on escort duty off Salerno, Italy, on Sep. 25, 1943, torpedoed and sunk by enemy submarine. Vessel was blown in half and forward end capsized. Of her 103 officers and men, none of the officers and only 32 men survived. Vessel was stricken from Navy List on Oct. 11, 1943.
