dc.description The SURGE was built in 1941 by American Ship Building Co. at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Surge is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 133 feet, and a width of 26 feet. It displaces 310 tons, and has a load capacity of 142 tons. It entered service in the year 1941 under the ownership of General Seafood Corp. of Boston, MA U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Out of documentation sometime between 1982-1988. The photograph shows the Surge under way on the Great Lakes.
