Description: The GENERAL ORLANDO M. POE was built in 1900 by American Ship Building Co. at Cleveland, OH U.S. The General Orlando M. Poe is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 470 feet, and a width of 50 feet. It displaces 5619 tons, and has a load capacity of 4144 tons. It entered service in the year 1900 under the ownership of Bessemer Steamship Co. of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Sold for scrapping through Kovalchick Salvage Co. Arrived at Hamilton, Ont., for scrapping by Steel Co. of Canada, in September, 1955. The photograph shows the General Orlando M. Poe under way on the Great Lakes.
