The JOHN J. BARLUM was built in 1909 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The John J. Barlum is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 504 feet, and a width of 54 feet. It displaces 6419 tons, and has a load capacity of 4924 tons. It entered service in the year 1909 under the ownership of Postal Steamship Co. (John J. Barlum, Mgr.) of Detroit, MI U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Sold to Steel Factors, Ltd., Montreal, P.Q., in late spring, 1968. Passed down, Port Colborne, May 15, 1968. Arrived in tow of German tug BREMEN, along with str. HILLSDALE, at Santander, Spain, for scrapping, July 8, 1968. The photograph shows the John J.
