Description: The GOSHAWK was built in 1866 by Ira Lafrinnier at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Goshawk is a wood hulled schooner with a length of 180 feet, and a width of 32 feet. It displaces 549 tons, and has a load capacity of 522 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Foundered off Tawas Point, MI, Lake Huron, June 16, 1920, bound in tow from Port Huron, MI, for Duluth, MN, with a cargo of salt. No lives lost. The photograph shows the Goshawk under way on the Great Lakes. More information about this vessel is available at the HCGL Website
