Description: The OCEAN WAVE was built in 1853 by Peck and Masters at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Ocean Wave is a wood hulled bark with 3 masts, a length of 128 feet, and a width of 25 feet. It displaces 308 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Became a total loss in storm of September 16-20, 1869 at Hammonds Bay, MI, Lake Huron. Final enrollment surrendered at Chicago, IL, December 7, 1869 and endorsed "vessel lost." The photograph shows the Ocean Wave under way on the Great Lakes.
