Description: The CONNERSVILLE was built in 1918 by Great Lakes Engineering Works at Ashtabula, OH U.S. The Connersville is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 253 feet, and a width of 43 feet. It displaces 2232 tons, and has a load capacity of 1358 tons. It entered service in the year 1918 under the ownership of U.S. Shipping Board of Washington, DC U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Departed River Clyde, Scotland, February 14, 1935, with cargo of coal. Reported by wireless to Sable Island that she was encountering severe storm and ice off Newfoundland; never heard from again. The photograph shows the Connersville under way on the Great Lakes.
