Description: The ALBERT Y. GOWEN was built in 1888 by Henry D. Root at Lorain, OH U.S. The Albert Y. Gowen is a wood hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 118 feet, and a width of 26 feet. It displaces 213 tons, and has a load capacity of 180 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Dropped from enrollment at New York, 1923, as sold British. Reportedly dismantled in 1923 at Levis, Quebec. The photograph shows the Albert Y. Gowen at Kelley's Island, OH. More information about this vessel is available at the HCGL Website
