Description: The CHARLES P. MINCH was built in 1867 by Isaac W. Nicholas at Vermilion, OH U.S. The Charles P. Minch is a wood hulled schooner with a length of 154 feet, and a width of 28 feet. It displaces 408 tons, and has a load capacity of 387 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Vessel driven ashore during gale at Cove Pier, Ontario, Georgian Bay, October 26, 1898, a total loss. Vessel was bound for Chicago with lumber; no lives lost. The photograph shows the Charles P. Minch under way on the Great Lakes. More information about this vessel is available at the HCGL Website
