dc.description The JOSEPH SELLWOOD was built in 1906 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The Joseph Sellwood is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 525 feet, and a width of 55 feet. It displaces 6741 tons, and has a load capacity of 5269 tons. It entered service in the year 1906 under the ownership of Cleveland Steamship Co. (John Mitchell & Co., Mgrs.) of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Sold through Marine Salvage, Inc., Port Colborne, Ont., to Italian ship breakers in fall, 1961. Departed Lauzon, P.Q., under tow, on June 8, 1962, and arrived at Genoa, Italy, for scrapping, on July 1, 1962. The photograph shows the Joseph Sellwood under way on the Great Lakes.
