The FORSTER W. MITCHELL was built in 1909 by American Ship Building Co. at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Forster W. Mitchell is a steel hulled tank barge with a length of 142 feet, and a width of 32 feet. It displaces 513 tons, and has a load capacity of 405 tons. It entered service in the year 1909 under the ownership of Petrol Traffic Co. (Paragon Oil Refrigeration Co.) of Duluth, MN U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Dropped from documentation, 1940; presumed scrapped. The photograph shows the Forster W. Mitchell under way on the Great Lakes.
