The R.J. HACKETT was built in 1870 by Elihu M. Peck at Cleveland, OH U.S. The R.J. Hackett is a wood hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 208 feet, and a width of 32 feet. It displaces 748 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Burned at Whaleback Shoal, Green Bay, about 10 miles from Cedar River, MI on November 12, 1905; no lives lost. Was bound for Marinette, WI, with cargo of coal. Final enrollment surrendered at Detroit, MI, on Nov 15, 1905. The photograph shows the R.J. Hackett under way on the Great Lakes.
