The LAKE FERNWOOD was built in 1918 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The Lake Fernwood is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 251 feet, and a width of 43 feet. It displaces 2013 tons, and has a load capacity of 1245 tons. It entered service in the year 1918 under the ownership of U.S. Shipping Board of New Orleans, LA U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Seized by Germans in 1943, (September). Sunk by enemy aircraft at Parenzo, Italy, September 22, 1944. Raised in October, 1949; seized by Yugoslavian Government; broken up at Pola. The photograph shows the Lake Fernwood at Detroit River.
