The KATE GILLETT was built in 1867 by J.J. Miller at Conneaut, OH U.S. The Kate Gillett is a wood hulled schooner with 2 masts, a length of 129 feet, and a width of 30 feet. It displaces 263 tons, and has a load capacity of 250 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Struck Cleveland, OH, breakwall, June 11, 1903, after losing foresail; went to pieces. Was bound from Buffalo, NY, for Port Clinton, OH, with coal at time of loss; no lives lost. The photograph shows the Kate Gillett under way on the Great Lakes.
