| Description: | The SAMUEL H. FOSTER was built in 1873 by Louis Laffrinier at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Samuel H. Foster is a wood hulled schooner with 3 masts, a length of 189 feet, and a width of 33 feet. It displaces 720 tons, and has a load capacity of 684 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Driven ashore fourteen miles west of Portage Ship Canal, MI, Lake Superior, on October 9, 1906, along with barge WAYNE, while in tow of propeller L.L.
