Description: The WILLIAM EDWARDS was built in 1879 by Fries, Valentine (William Raynor-Master Carpenter) at Abbotts Bridge (Milan), OH U.S. The William Edwards is a wood hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 226 feet, and a width of 35 feet. It displaces 1272 tons, and has a load capacity of 973 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Foundered off Cape Pine, Newfoundland, on May 18, 1917. Carried cargo of coal on voyage from Sidney, for St. Johns, Newfoundland at time of loss. The photograph shows the William Edwards under way on the Great Lakes.
