Description: The UMBRIA was built in 1904 by American Ship Building Co. at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Umbria is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 420 feet, and a width of 50 feet. It displaces 4803 tons, and has a load capacity of 3519 tons. It entered service in the year 1904 under the ownership of Acme Transit Co. (W.A. & A.H. Hawgood, Mgrs.) of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Sold, through Luria Brothers, for scrapping by Steel Co. of Canada, Ltd., at Hamilton, Ontario. Towed there in June, 1959. The photograph shows the Umbria at Duluth, MN. More information about this vessel is available at the HCGL Website
