Description: The YAKIMA was built in 1887 by Thomas & Sons Quayle at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Yakima is a wood hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 279 feet, and a width of 40 feet. It displaces 1986 tons, and has a load capacity of 1657 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Stranded on Stag Island, St. Clair River, on June 10, 1905. Caught fire and burned to a total loss on June 13, 1905. Hull was refloated on August 30, 1905, and dismantled. The photograph shows the Yakima under way on the Great Lakes.
