The D.M. CLEMSON was built in 1916 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The D.M. Clemson is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 580 feet, and a width of 60 feet. It displaces 7728 tons, and has a load capacity of 6020 tons. It entered service in the year 1916 under the ownership of Pittsburgh Steamship Co. of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Sold to the Western Metals Corp. of Thunder Bay, Ontario for scrap in 1980. She arrived at Thunder Bay in August of 1980 in tow of a Malcolm Marine & Salvage tug. The photograph shows the D.M. Clemson at Downbound the St. Marys River.
