Description: The FRANCIS L. ROBBINS was built in 1905 by American Ship Building Co. at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Francis L. Robbins is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 380 feet, and a width of 50 feet. It displaces 4222 tons, and has a load capacity of 3036 tons. It entered service in the year 1905 under the ownership of Robbins Transportation Co. (William H. Becker, Mgr.) of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Passed downbound at Detroit, June 21, 1965, in tow of tug JOHN PURVES, for Ashtabula, OH. Scrapped there during the summer, 1966, by Acme Scrap Metal & Iron Co. The photograph shows the Francis L. Robbins under way on the Great Lakes.
