Description: The A.A. AUGUSTUS was built in 1909 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The A.A. Augustus is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 504 feet, and a width of 54 feet. It displaces 6390 tons, and has a load capacity of 4869 tons. It entered service in the year 1909 under the ownership of Pioneer Steamship Co. (Hutchinson & Co., Mgrs.) of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Passed down, Port Colborne, June 5, 1969, under own power, for scrapping overseas. Arrived in tow with steamer HUMBERDOC, at Bilboa, Spain, on September 6, 1969, for scrapping there. The photograph shows the A.A. Augustus at St. Marys River.
