Description: The J.Q. RIDDLE was built in 1906 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The J.Q. Riddle is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 532 feet, and a width of 56 feet. It displaces 6832 tons, and has a load capacity of 5376 tons. It entered service in the year 1906 under the ownership of Milwaukee Steamship Co. (W.A. & H.A. Hawgood, Mgrs.) of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Sold to Marine Salvage, Ltd., Port Colborne, Ont., and passed down, Port Colborne, October 27, 1962, under own power for Lauzon, P.Q. Foundered in tow, bound for Italy and scrapping, during a gale, c.30 miles southeast of Azore Islands, in Atlantic Ocean, December 8, 1962. The photograph shows the J.Q. Riddle at Detroit River.
