Description: The PERE MARQUETTE 18 was built in 1902 by American Ship Building Co. at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Pere Marquette 18 is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 338 feet, and a width of 56 feet. It displaces 2909 tons, and has a load capacity of 1722 tons. It entered service in the year 1902 under the ownership of Pere Marquette Railway Co. of Detroit, MI U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Foundered c.twenty miles off Sheboygan, WI, Lake Michigan, September 9, 1910, bound from Ludington, MI, for Milwaukee with 29 rail cars aboard. PERE MARQUETTE 17 stood by to pick up survivors; 29 of 62 persons on board lost, 33 saved; P.M. 17 lost two of her crew while making the rescue.
