Description: The LAKE FESTUS was built in 1919 by Toledo Shipbuilding Co. at Toledo, OH U.S. The Lake Festus is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 248 feet, and a width of 43 feet. It displaces 2571 tons, and has a load capacity of 1588 tons. It entered service in the year 1919 under the ownership of U.S. Shipping Board of Washington, DC U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Stranded on Cape Owest, near Brest, France, July 14, 1947, bound from Rotterdam for Cagliari, Sardinia, with cargo of coke.
