The COMMERCE was built in 1857 by Daniel Dibble at Sandusky, OH U.S. The Commerce is a wood hulled brig with 2 masts, a length of 138 feet, and a width of 31 feet. It displaces 426 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Became waterlogged and capsized eight miles off Sheboygan, WI, Lake Michigan, on November 11, 1909, with cargo of hardwood slabs.
