Description: The NORTH STAR was built in 1854 by S.W. & A.A. Turner at Cleveland, OH U.S. The North Star is a wood hulled steamer with a length of 260 feet, and a width of 33 feet. It displaces 1106 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Burned at Cleveland, OH, February 20, 1862, to a total loss. Machinery removed and hull raised and dismantled in spring, 1862. The photograph shows the North Star at Old State Locks. More information about this vessel is available at the HCGL Website
