dc.description The JUPITER was built in 1901 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The Jupiter is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 346 feet, and a width of 48 feet. It displaces 3719 tons, and has a load capacity of 2769 tons. It entered service in the year 1901 under the ownership of Gilchrist Transportation Co. of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Sold, through Luria Brothers, to Steel Co. of Canada, Ltd., Hamilton, Ont., for scrapping in 1959 (May).
