dc.description The PENNSYLVANIA was built in 1899 by Cleveland Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The Pennsylvania is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 429 feet, and a width of 50 feet. It displaces 4840 tons, and has a load capacity of 3604 tons. It entered service in the year 1899 under the ownership of Minnesota Steamship Co. of Ashtabula, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Sold to Marine Salvage, Ltd., Port Colborne, Ont., and towed from Buffalo to Port Colborne by tug LAURENCE C. TURNER, October 23, 1964. Resold to Eisen & Metall A.G., Hamburg, Germany, and arrived at Hamburg under tow on July 19, 1965, for scrapping. The photograph shows the Pennsylvania under way on the Great Lakes.
