dc.description The OUR SON was built in 1875 by Henry J. Root and Henry Kelley at Black River (Lorain), OH U.S. The Our Son is a wood hulled schooner with 3 masts, a length of 182 feet, and a width of 35 feet. It displaces 720 tons, and has a load capacity of 684 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Foundered forty miles west south west of Big Point Sable, MI, Lake Michigan, on September 26, 1930. Crew of seven rescued by steamer WILLIAM NELSON. The photograph shows the Our Son under way on the Great Lakes.
