The OUR SON was built in 1875 by Henry J. Root and Henry Kelley at Black River (Lorain), OH U.S. The Our Son is a wood hulled schooner with 3 masts, a length of 182 feet, and a width of 35 feet. It displaces 720 tons, and has a load capacity of 684 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Foundered forty miles west south west of Big Point Sable, MI, Lake Michigan, on September 26, 1930.
