Description: The DUNKIRK was built in 1910 by Great Lakes Towing Co. at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Dunkirk is a steel hulled tug with a length of 68 feet, and a width of 17 feet. It displaces 71 tons, and has a load capacity of 37 tons. It entered service in the year 1910 under the ownership of Great Lakes Towing Co. of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: After lying idle in "reserve" slip at Jefferson Street yard of company, Cleveland, OH, for about fifteen years, vessel was scrapped by Acme Scrap Iron & Metal Co., at Ashtabula, OH, in winter, 1964-1965. Final enrollment was surrendered in October, 1965. The photograph shows the Dunkirk under way on the Great Lakes. More information about this vessel is available at the HCGL Website
