Description: The ALVA C. DINKEY was built in 1909 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The Alva C. Dinkey is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 580 feet, and a width of 58 feet. It displaces 7514 tons, and has a load capacity of 5822 tons. It entered service in the year 1909 under the ownership of Pittsburgh Steamship Co. of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Departed Quebec, October 18, 1980, in tandem tow with GOVERNOR MILLER, in tow of tug CATHY B.; arrived at Ferrol, Spain, November 12, 1980, for scrapping. Demolition begun on December 15, 1980 by Francisco Nata Cuesta. Removed from documentation in August, 1980, as sold Spanish for scrapping. The photograph shows the Alva C.
