The D.G. KERR was built in 1916 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The D.G. Kerr is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 580 feet, and a width of 60 feet. It displaces 7756 tons, and has a load capacity of 6026 tons. It entered service in the year 1916 under the ownership of Pittsburgh Steamship Co. of Cleveland, OH U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Foundered on December 16, 1980 on the vicinity of Santa Maria Island in the Azores while under tow of the supply vessel FEDERAL 6, to overseas shipbreakers. There was no loss of life. Removed from documentation in August, 1980, as sold Spanish for scrapping. The photograph shows the D.G. Kerr at St. Marys River.
