Description: The MARGARET OLWILL was built in 1887 by Smith, L.P. & J.A.(Root, Henry D. Mstr. Carpenter) at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Margaret Olwill is a wood hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 175 feet, and a width of 35 feet. It displaces 541 tons, and has a load capacity of 493 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Parted her wheel chains as she came about in a northeast gale, June 29, 1899, and foundered eight miles off Lorain, OH, Lake Erie; nine lives lost. Vessel bound from Kelleys Island, OH, for Cleveland with cargo of stone. Seven survivors rescued by steamer STATE OF OHIO and tug CASCADE.
