The NORTHERN LIGHT was built in 1888 by Globe Iron Works at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Northern Light is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 299 feet, and a width of 40 feet. It displaces 2476 tons, and has a load capacity of 1885 tons. It entered service in the year 1888 under the ownership of Northern Steamship Co. of Buffalo, NY U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Foundered in position 25.03N x 80.13W, off Florida Keyes, on November 8, 1930. The photograph shows the Northern Light under way on the Great Lakes.
