Description: The TOLEDO was built in 1862 by Peck & Masters at Cleveland, OH U.S. The Toledo is a wood hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 180 feet, and a width of 39 feet. It displaces 622 tons. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Became waterlogged and beached 500 feet from entrance to Portage Ship Canal, MI, Lake Superior, September 30, 1898. Final enrollment surrendered at Detroit, MI, October 11, 1898. Wreck blown up and dismantled, November 10, 1898. The photograph shows the Toledo under way on the Great Lakes.
