The J.J.H. BROWN was built in 1908 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, OH U.S. The J.J.H. Brown is a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 432 feet, and a width of 52 feet. It displaces 5069 tons, and has a load capacity of 3787 tons. It entered service in the year 1908 under the ownership of Brown Steamship Co. of Buffalo, NY U.S. The vessel was removed from service with the following notation: Sold through Marine Salvage, Ltd., Port Colborne, Ont., to Italian shipbreakers. Arrived in tow, along with JAMES E. MCALPINE, at Genoa, Italy, July 19, 1965. Scrapped at Spezia, Italy. The photograph shows the J.J.H. Brown under way on the Great Lakes.
