Welcome to a bug filled adventure. This WebQuest is sure to make your skin crawl! You will experience many aspects of insects and other interesting creatures as you enter websites loaded with pictures and information about these gross little bugs. Your first task is to read the book Don't Bug Me! by Pam Zollman. Next, you will be able to explore many websites about insects. The websites contain interesting facts and photos of insects. Some websites have video clips and games. At one of the website you will take a short multiple-choice quiz to check your understanding. This quiz will not be graded. Be sure to explore each website and take notes throughout to help you with the final activity.The final activity will ask you to identify one species of insect that you have learned about. You will need to describe at least three physical characteristics, at least one way the species has impacted the world, and three other facts about the species that you find interesting. Congratulations! You have reached the end of this bug webquest. It's time to use all of you new knowledge about insects to complete the final activity.
First, you will need to write a paper (at least 2 pages in length) describing one species of insect. Choose any insect that you would like to write about. Describe at least three physical characteristics of the species (head, thorax, and abdomen excluded). Draw a diagram of the species and label the three characteristics that you have described in your paper.
Next, describe at least one way this particular species of insect has impacted the world as we know it. This information can be located in several of the websites that you have explored.
Finally, describe three facts about this species that you found most interesting and tell why.
